tonewall “Stoney” Ponders has been in the funeral service industry since 1982 and has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer since 1985. He’s a graduate of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, where he was class Vice President, as well as Chaplain of Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. Stoney decided at a very young age that he wanted to be a funeral director and has dedicated himself to funeral service ever since. As the Founder and Owner of Ponders Funeral Homes, Stoney is honored and proud to work alongside two of his four sisters, as well as two nephews.
erry Coughlin joined the Ponders Funeral Home family in 2006 as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, and also serves as the manager for our Calhoun and Fairmount locations. Jerry is a graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service where he was President of his class and a member of Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. He is a recipient of the Bill Pierce Award and the Daniel Buccanan Award. Jerry has dedicated himself to funeral service to help families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
athy joined our staff at Whitfield Memorial Gardens in 2007. She is a 1980 graduate of Wayne State Mortuary School. She is a licensed funeral director in the states of Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Tennessee, and Texas. Kathy has lived in the Ringgold community for the past 18 years. She married her high school sweetheart, Jeff, and has one son, Dr.Jeremy and wife Rachel Adomnik, as well as two grandchildren, Sydney and Carson.
ason Gibson is the nephew of Stoney Ponders and has been a member of the Ponders Funeral Home staff since it opened in 1992. Jason is a graduate of the Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service. Following in the footsteps of his uncle, Jason has dedicated his life to the funeral service industry. As a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer, Jason feels privileged to be able serve the families that place their trust in Ponders Funeral Homes.
ames Caldwell joined Ponders Funeral Home family in 2010. James is a graduate of Gupton- Jones College of Funeral Service, where he obtain his Associates of Science Degree in Funeral Services and was a member of the Pi Sigma Eta Fraternity. James received his Funeral Directors and Embalmer license in October 2014. James is honored to be able to serve the community where he was raised and help families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
